Vehicle Overview
* SHOWN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. THIS JEEP IS IN OUR STORAGE UNIT *1977, J7A15MZ098778. OEM Tawny Orange, 401, Z-code. California vehicle until 2018. Parked for many years. 66,XXX original miles, believed to be accurate considering the condition we got it in, and the original owner's story. Lots of nice subtle upgrades/updates.
Edelbrook 4 barrel carburetor. One pump of gas, and starts right up, then high idle until warm, as designed.
MSD Ignition, eliminating the problematic ignition system, and ICM.
~3" lift done by a professional Jeep suspension expert. The steering wheel was straightened to correct for the lift. Many hours were spent on the lift to get it right!
New shocks and steering stabilizer
New wheel spacers, lug nuts, and minor spacers to align tires with the body for an aggressive stance. Not sticking out of wheel wells and defeating the purpose of the wheel well.
All new interior.
Carpet throughout. Reinstalled cargo strips to keep OEM look/feel.
The headliner (2 years ago) has minor stains, and the trim piece, impossible to source, is brittle. New dome lights.
Seats reupholstered mocha brown with Aztec pattern - Looks phenomenal
The door panels are new
Door pulls are refurbished great condition. Sourced a great set to install in this vehicle.
The interior color combination is stunning.
The dashpad is in great condition.
New ABS kick panels. Covered with extra carpeting. Looks great! A small amount of carpeting remains unused and will convey. In case you need a sample to match for the future.
Engine compartment repainted using original paint code
Exterior/interior professional painted in its original Tawny Orange, paint code: 7Y - Very sought after, and just stunning.
All Interior and exterior were pulled for paint. Jams, doors, floors.
New wood grain on roof racks and body. Stainless trim polished.
ALL new rubber and felts. Wipes, rain guards, seals, hood bumpers.
The glass is all intact, scrapped with a razor blade to clean. New Windshield and gasket.
Retro radio with Bluetooth, 2 new speakers in front. None in the rear, easily added.
USB ports from the radio mounted where the old clock resided. Old clock included. Looks nice and is very functional
The tailgate window works from both the interior and exterior switch.
Newly remanufactured motor, all new inners on the tailgate.
New guides, rubber.
LOTS of original photos, and photos during the refresh. Including floors without carpet! to prove a rust-free state, other than 3 pinholes, see the picture. Grinded and POR-15ed
SUPER RUST free, floors were immaculate. See pictures. No patches. Unheard of!!
The undercarriage is pristine, as would be expected for a California Jeep.
All windows roll up/down nicely. The front door locks work. New lock cylinders installed. Separate key from ignition like a factory.
Glove box inserts new/plastic. BJs
Tank dropped, flushed, inspected. Any hose needing replaced, was replaced. New Sending unit. Gauge works, not 100% accurate but works 5/8 is full. Can be adjusted if desired.
All lights work, including the gauge cluster lights.
Center armrest was repaired, repaired the factory defective inner plate that holds it in the upright position.
4x4 works. Special Quadratrac fluid flushed, and replaced. Resealed.
Transmission serviced, flushed, resealed. Shifts great! New mount.
Engine is strong, and sounds great.
Exhaust has been inspected, and any repairs were performed, exhaust leaks rectified. New muffler, great sound
new Valve gaskets.
Valve covers painted original, period correct, AMC blue.
Differentials drained and new gear oil added.
Runs very cool. Cooling systems serviced, flushed 4 times with Thermocure.
Heat HOT! Blows strong on floor, and defrost.
401 emblems are OEM from a Javelin. Not reproduction.
Cig lighter works
Cruise inoperable.
new battery
All stainless was polished.
Brand new BFG KO2 AT 31x10.5 15, on OEM Kidney bean rims.
Lots of receipts, and lots of miscellaneous new parts throughout.
The only thing that may need attention is the AC. It blows, not super cold. I considered updating with Retro Air. Just never got to it. I roll with the windows down. :)
Many more Pictures and Videos are available. Just ask!! Total transparent owner, 20+ year FSJ hobbyist, just looking to thin the herd. This Jeep will not disappoint.
1. Would you drive this across country? I would drive this across country before any other vintage vehicle I have owned from a reliability perspective. It is a Jeep, and has a lift, so the ride is not as smooth as other classics I have owned. It will make it.
2. Paint quality? 8 out of 10. A few imperfections, but the paint job is about 2 years old.
3. What is wet spot on the ground. This is a drain location, from the cowl down the side, and out the bottom of fender. Often these are clogged. We removed the fresh air vents and cleaned out both sides. Massive amount of debris was found. This picture, unintentionally, shows that this drains as designed.
4. What are the shots of the unrecognizable areas. I assume this is referring to the Cavity shots of the cargo area, down the sides of the rear wheel wells. To show no patches, or rust. You will see the original sound deadening still present. This is a common rust location. And perhaps the first location for rust.
5. Please elaborate on pinhole holes on floor pans. Literally, smaller than a dime. I probably couldn't have pushed a Bic pen through. I have pics of before seam seal, and after. Again, we grinded out the rust to bare metal. Then, metal etched. Finally, applied POR-15. The correct way to apply POR-15. POR-15 is meant to paint on rust, hence the name. When it is bare metal, which we grinded to, it must have a metal etch/zinc in which for the paint to adhere.
